Bel-Air is a large luxury development which consists of 6 phases. The development is located next to Cyberport with its shops, cinemas and boutique hotel. Phase 6 at Bel-Air is known as Bel-Air no. 8 and was designed by renowned architect Norman Foster, making it the most distinctive of the highrise tower blocks. It comprises 8 blocks completed in August 2008 with a total of 709 units. Blocks 1&2 are of 26 storeys, Blocks 3&5 are of 32 storeys, Blocks 6&7 are of 38 storeys and Blocks 8A & 8B are of 39 storeys. Block 1 has 4 apartments per floor, Blocks 2-7 have 3 per floor and the largest apartments are in Blocks 8A & 8B with 2 apartments per floor. The sizes vary from 463 sf saleable to a large penthouse of 4136 sf saleable. They all have balconies and great views and the fixtures and fittings are the highest quality of the various towers. It starts at the campus of Hong Kong University at the extreme western end of Midlevels and extends all the way to Cyberport. Unlike the southern part of Hong Kong, this western coastline does not have any beaches. There are some hiking trails which start there and continue up to the parks and trails of the Peak.
